After a traumatic incident during residency, young medical student James Heyman (Namir Smallwood) is transferred to a rural hospital to start his life anew. Noticing that James is struggling and having difficulty communicating with patients, Dr. Harrison (veteran theater and film actor Michael Potts) suggests he enroll in a course on bedside manner and building closer relationships with patients. The demons of James’ past begin to catch up with him when he finds himself consumed by the case of a young asthma patient (Sidney Flannigan, NEVER, RARELY, SOMETIMES, ALWAYS) with mysterious symptoms. His connection to reality begins to weaken as his disturbing nightmares, anxiety-fueled assumptions, and physical trauma collide with the harsh reality of the medical world. Director Alex Thompson has assembled a strong ensemble of seasoned character actors in his follow-up to THE FRENCH SAINTβand its predecessor, GHOST WORLDβin this humanistic and unconventional take on the genre.
