Mismatched cousins reunite for a tour of Poland to honor the memory of their beloved grandmother. The adventure takes a new turn when the odd couple’s old contradictions surface against the background of their family history. When Benjy and David visit their grandmother’s house in Poland, this is the place where Jesse Eisenberg’s real ancestors settled in the diaspora.. I saw this film at the AFI Film Festival in Hollywood last week. By the time I got to this film, I was suffering from a little overload from going to the cinema, and, chatting with someone in the hall before the start of the film, I almost forgot what I was going to watch! But I was so glad that I watched this film! As you know from the synopsis, Jesse Eisenberg wrote, directed and starred in this remarkable film about the journey of two cousins to Poland to see the land of their beloved grandmother. Eisenberg perfectly plays the role for which he seems to have been created – a tense, nervous and devoted family man who always wants to do the right thing. Eisenberg is joined by Kieran Culkin, who plays the complete opposite of Eisenberg — he’s talkative, open, and willing to break the rules, much to Eisenberg’s chagrin.
Therefore, I strongly recommend that you familiarize yourself with this poster as soon as possible
Culkin’s character easily makes friends with his fellow travelers and guide, again much to Eisenberg’s surprise (and sometimes his annoyance). The story itself is very interesting, and you will find yourself wanting to join them on their tour. Culkin could be up for an Oscar for this film, and Eisenberg could get a nomination for screenplay and/or direction.
